Omicron Mutation: Two cases detected in Australia

Australian health authorities announced today that two cases of the Omicron mutation, also known as Botswana mutation, to two travelers who arrived in Sydney from southern Africa.

The New South Wales Department of Health in the east Australia, announced that tests were carried out which confirmed the presence of this new executive in two travelers who arrived yesterday Saturday in Sydney.

The two passengers were on a Qatar Airways flight and arrived in Australia via Doha, Qatar., pointed out the New South Wales health authorities.

They tested positive for covid-19 on arrival in Sydney, prompting authorities to look into whether they were infected with the Omicron strain, which was first detected in South Africa.

“The two positive cases, which were asymptomatic, are isolated in specially designed rooms. “These two people were completely immunized.” against covid-19, the Australian Ministry of State added.

Twelve travelers from southern Africa who arrived in Australia on the same flight have also been quarantined, although they did not test positive for covid-19.

The approximately 260 passengers on board – passengers and crew – were called to quarantine.
