On CNN Profit #24: “I have already refused a R$ 500,000 fee because of the campaign”, says Karol Pinheiro

Financial education is still a taboo subject among many Brazilian families. Despite the United Nations Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) recommending that the subject be raised as early as possible with children, it is not difficult to find complaints from those who have not learned about money at home. Influencer Karol Pinheiro is among them.

Guest of the 24th episode of CNN In Profit podcast, CNN Brasil Soft project, Karol spoke about the lack of having conversations about finances at home, the parents’ difficulty in dealing with money and how she wouldn’t want to repeat the mistake with her own son. “I had a horrible contact with money, my parents were and continue to be terrible with it. Today, I am even more aware of that.”

In the episode, Karol also said that, despite the difficulties she has been through, money is not everything. An influencer on social networks, she revealed that she has already refused a fee of R$ 500 thousand for not identifying with the campaign.

The influencer career

Karol Pinheiro is a journalist by training and, before venturing into social media with content creation, she worked for seven years at Capricho magazine – she joined the company as an intern and arrived at the editor, when she decided to resign.

As he told No Lucro, the moment to leave the CLT was not simple. Karol did not have the support of his family and was afraid of going through financial difficulties. “I could have resigned earlier, but I didn’t. I was afraid. I had medical insurance, 13th salary and extremely talkative parents,” she said.

The influencer’s choice worked, but Karol confessed that, despite the good fees, she “does not have a peaceful sleep” with the instability and uncertainty of the digital market. Asked what the highest fee she refused, she recalled an advertising campaign that was heavily criticized by the public and had to be withdrawn from airing.

“I turned down a toilet paper campaign, I turned down around R$500,000 there. I did the right thing because the campaign went super wrong, it was criticized a lot and they took it off the air”, he said.
