The sequel to 2019’s Downton Abbey film focuses on the struggle between modernity and a mystery from the past. As Mary (Michelle Dockery) works with a director and movie star (new cast members Hugh Dancy and Dominic West) to shoot a film on her estate, Countess Dame Maggie Smith reveals a secret from her past.
“Years before your birth, I met a man,” begins the countess, before sharing the fact that the man gave her a luxury real estate property. “Do you think I could ever turn down a villa in the south of France?” she says ironically. The Crawleys thus choose to take a holiday on the French Riviera. While there, they try to find out why the countess inherited the villa.
The film was shot in a real French villa, in the coastal town of Le Pradet, near Toulon. Surrounded by a three-hectare wooded park, it enjoys spectacular sea views and gives access to a private bay. The magnificent villa was first built in the 19th century in the Belle Époque style.
In addition to the possibility of staying at Oliver’s Travels Palais De L’OceanAs seen in the film, the brand new and exclusive experience also boasts a host of period-style extras: from clay pigeon shooting to horse riding, casino nights and extravagant dancing, guests can spend the holidays this summer in true royal style, without forgetting a boat trip to soak up the sun.
The villa has 12 bedrooms, for up to 24 guests, all with private bathrooms and some with direct access to the garden. From the welcoming palm-fringed entrance and lavish marble staircase hallway to the vast, richly decorated living areas, dining room and library, all interspersed with seating areas, tables, sculptures and artwork. Clients will also have a private chef and butler service at their disposal to feel fully in the part. There is also a splendid swimming pool.
Prices for “The Ultimate Downton Abbey Experience” package start at 1300 Euros per person for a 3 night stay based on 12 people sharing the rates, excluding the villa rate.
