On Profit CNN #38: Léo Bagarolo tells what it was like to leave a multinational to create content about pets on the internet

Making money producing content for the internet was a possibility that Leonardo Bagarolo did not even think of a few years ago. The young man, born in the interior of São Paulo and trained in cinema, was working as a commercial manager at a multinational construction material company when he went through a turning point in his life.

It was at the beginning of the pandemic that Léo decided to invest in creating content for social networks. The life of Mada and Bica, their rather expressive little dogs, began to be narrated by the tutor with a lot of humor and creativity. The expectation was to get food and “treats” for the pets, but the numbers surprised him. It didn’t take long for the profile of the pinscher and the English bulldog to gain thousands of followers, the videos hit millions of views and brands sought it out to close advertising contracts.

On the 38th episode of the No Lucro CNN podcast, hosted by Leandro Munhós, Leonardo Bagarolo tells how Mada and Bica’s success on social media made him leave his formal job to invest in humorous videos and manage his new business : the @MadaeBica. Already in the first few months, he found himself earning seven times what he had done at his previous job.

Invoicing

Even though most of the revenue comes from advertising, Léo says that the monetization of the content and partnerships with social networks also guarantee the monthly income. For next year, the plan is for the money to also come from licensing products, such as collars and toys with the Mada e Bica brand.

“It’s a way for you to take offline, take to the person’s home what they only have today in digital consumption.”

The creator reveals that his monthly income grew approximately 15 times, which resulted in a change in the standard of living. Leo confesses that he left the lease and managed to travel in one year, which was supposed to take seven, for example.

spreadsheet

In addition to being a good pet parent, Leo guarantees that he is good when it comes to managing finances. Despite the financial instabilities of the online world, he organizes himself with the help of spreadsheets, a characteristic he brought from his administrative career.

I like to spend too, but I’m very thrifty. I have a financial spreadsheet that is open 100% of the time in my notebook. We already have a billing forecast for December of next year, whether from partnerships that have already been signed, or from those that we would like to close.
