President-elect of the United States Donald Trump praised this Sunday (19) the return to operation of TikTok after the application was blocked in the United States by a ban.
“Starting today, TikTok is back,” Trump said at a rally in Washington on the eve of his inauguration.
Trump said Sunday that he would issue an executive order after his inauguration to delay enforcement of the ban law.
Hours later, the TikTok app and webpage began returning to US users. The social media platform attributed the comeback to Trump, greeting users with a notification that read: “Thank you for your patience and support. As a result of President Trump’s efforts, TikTok is back in the US!”
“We won on TikTok, and the Republicans have never won the youth vote, the young vote,” Trump said at the event at the Capitol One arena, adding, “So I like TikTok.”
Trump continued in the speech: “I said we need to save TikTok because we’re talking about a tremendous — who in this audience likes TikTok? Many? Yes, it is very popular. And frankly, we have no choice, we have to save him.”
