Autumn is off to a good start in terms of the number of tourists expected to visit our country. Airline bookings from abroad are still very high, following the performance of August, where we had one million booked seats every week.
In the week that begins, according to the recovery tracker of the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises, we have 951 thousand scheduled seats on international flights. Then, in the week of September 5 to 11, an additional 868 thousand in inbound flights.
In terms of the markets with the highest traffic, Germany is ahead and by a narrow margin the United Kingdom, followed by Italy, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Poland and Israel.
The destinations with the most scheduled inbound slots are Athens, Heraklion, Rhodes, Corfu, Thessaloniki, Kos, Santorini, Chania, Zakynthos and Mykonos.
The high numbers of expected arrivals next month also reinforces the planning of the Ministry of Tourism to extend the tourist season and maintain it until the end of the year, a development that will have a significant impact on the tourist basket.
