The idea of combining a technology brand with art is not new, but to verify how a smartphone could be transform into a creative tool gave non-trivial results. That’s what happened with the project Xiaomi HyperCharge RestART, an initiative conceived for the arrival in Italy of Xiaomi 11T Series and developed by the company, in collaboration with Il Prologue, to promote culture as a natural energizer capable of quickly recharging mind and spirit.
The 28th edition of Artissima Thus it was an opportunity to reveal to the public the Sensi Digitali exhibition created by a crew of young artists who declined the link between the digital world, the analog world and art in a creative project where dreams, illusions and reality merge.
To use the Xiaomi 11T Pro smartphone as a digital “brush” were 7 talented NABA guys: Emanuele Cantò, Gaia de Megni Barbieri, Alex Parrotto, Federico Pellacani, Chiara Smedile, Marika Vitran and Wei Luo who also played the role of curator of this exhibition.
“Art always finds a way to express itself, both with the more traditional tools known and always used, and with the more contemporary ones like the smartphone”, Wei Luo tells us. «In fact, the telephone is not only a means to create, but also to look at the world around us using a“ lens ”that often makes us see things we don’t pay much attention to. But most of all the smartphone greatly amplifies the creative possibilities».
To stimulate the young artists towards the realization of their contribution to the exhibition have contributed several prominent figures of the world of the arts that the boys met during three masterclasses carried out on the occasion of the 78th Film Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, Milan Design Week and Milan Fashion Week. The dialogues with the director Mario Martone, the actor Salvatore Esposito, the photographer Massimo Listri, Charley Vezza (Creative director of Gufram), Kean Etro (creative director of the fashion house Etro), the fashion director of GQ Italia were very brilliant. Nik Piras and Colomba Leddi, fashion design Area Leader of NABA, New Academy of Fine Arts.

The ideas exhibited at Artissima in the Sensi Digitali exhibition were born from these exchanges of experiences and opinions, developed in three sections: Sense of dream, Sense of memory, Sense of self. “The success of this exhibition with the public and critics confirms the success of this project, which was also very stimulating for us”, he tells us. Davide Lunardelli, Head of Marketing of Xiaomi Italia.
«Seeing the smartphone as a contemporary creative tool for the new generations is not only an excellent stimulus to strengthen the link between Xiaomi and art but also to create increasingly advanced and feature-rich products designed above all to express oneself freely “, continued Lunardelli.
Alongside the exhibition, the Xiaomi project also included the awarding of the first edition of the Xiaomi HyperCharge Award aimed at the best artist under 35 whose research best communicates the charge that innovation and culture know how to instill in contemporary society. The recognition went to Gillian Brett presented by the C + N Canepaneri gallery in Milan and Genoa.
The prize was awarded by the jury composed of Antonio Carloni, Intesa Sanpaolo Art, Culture and Historical Heritage Department, Stefano Collicelli Cagol, independent curator, Davide Lunardelli, Head of Marketing of Xiaomi Italia.
