On June 1, the indicator fell to the level of 256,000.

Along with a decrease in activity, a number of transactions with minimal commissions were included in the blocks. Among them, one from the bitcoin developer under the nickname Mononaut for only 0.1 satosh for a virtual byte.

According to the specialist, it took about a month to process the transaction. The commission amounted to only 11 Satoshi (about $ 0.01).

Mononaut specified that the transaction was processed by the Bitcoin Mainer Mara (previously Marathon Digital), which uses for such cases under the name Slipstream.

Open letter

The developers of Bitcoin Core published an open letter on June 6, which spoke out against the filtering of non -standard transactions and operations with a low commission similar to the one that Mononaut conducted. In their opinion, such restrictions contradict the basic principles of bitcoin – decentralization and censorship resistance.

“We do not support the use of a network for non -financial data, but we admit: Bitcoin as a free from censorship system will inevitably be used for purposes that not everyone likes,” the authors of the letter explained.

They also noted that redirecting users to private channels like Slipstream threatens the decentralization of the network. The initiative caused criticism from some well -known community representatives. The founder of Jan3 Samson MOU wrote in X:

“The developers of Bitcoin Core are gradually changing the network, opening the way spam. And now they want to remove the latest restrictions for spamers. A convenient position is to pretend that it happened, and nothing can be done. ”
