One person has died and 12 people remain trapped in an old Colorado gold mine that has been turned into a tourist attraction. The incident was caused by a malfunction in an elevator that was transporting a group of visitors to a depth of 300 meters, according to recent information from local authorities. Teller County Sheriff Jason Michaels confirmed to reporters that there was one person dead, without specifying the exact cause of death. He added that four people were injured. Eleven people were rescued, while crews are trying to repair the damage to the elevator to retrieve 12 trapped people, 11 tourists and a tour guide. The incident occurred at the Mollie Kathleen gold mine in Cripple Creek, Colorado. It is an 1890 gold mine located 80 kilometers from the city of Colorado Springs.
