“One more tourist, one less neighbor” – New protests in Spain against hypertourism

Thousands of people demonstrated in the southern Spanish cities of Malaga and Cadiz today against mass tourism, which they accuse of depriving the local population of affordable housing, as anger grows in the country against the phenomenon of hypertourism, a country second largest tourist destination worldwide. With the slogan: “A Malaga to live, not to survive”, almost 5,500 people, according to local authorities, gathered in the historic center of the large Andalusian city of 570,000 inhabitants, the tourist center of “sol y playa” (sun and beach).
