One of the oldest and largest film studios in Egypt and in the entire Arab world was destroyed during the night of Friday 15/3 by a huge fire. According to Agence France-Presse there were no casualties. The fire destroyed the 1944-built Al Ahram Studio in the Giza district, west of the capital, and then spread to three neighboring buildings that had been evacuated before the fire reached it. This morning, the residents of these buildings were still sleeping on the ground in neighboring streets, according to an AFP correspondent. Security sources clarified that the fire did not cause casualties, however, as reported by the Athens News Agency, they reported “incidents of shortness of breath that were treated on the spot”.
