One of the most popular electric vehicles will be discontinued

According to Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault, the ZOE electric car will not live to see the next generation as the company moves to a new all-electric platform. According to Insideevs, the Renault ZOE is Renault’s best-selling all-electric model and one of the best-selling vehicles in Europe.

However, the ZOE platform is aging as the car was introduced in 2012 and has been redesigned several times since then, including a major update in 2019. The company has sold over 300,000 Renault ZOE electric vehicles, almost all of which have been sold in Europe.

Renault ZOE will be replaced by the all-new Renault R5 electric car, which is expected in 2023, while it was said at the beginning of this year that the company has no plans to replace the popular ZOE model.

Renault plans to move to the new CMF-EV platform of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance to become more competitive. The new technology is expected to significantly reduce the company’s costs: perhaps as much as a third compared to ZOE.
