Fans are most excited for the return of “One Piece” will have to get used to waiting, as the series’ producer stated that the premiere of the second season will still take a while a little while.
In an interview with Deadline, Becky Clements, president of Tomorrow Studios, responsible for Netflix’s live-action, said that the new season has a lot of visual effects, which could delay its release.
“It’s a very visual effects year, so it’s going to take a while. We’re far away [do lançamento],” Clements said.
According to her, the series is currently in its third week of production, and filming is expected to continue until December of this year.

During the interview, Clements was also asked about Jamie Lee Curtis’ possible participation in the new season of the live-action series as Dr. Kureha.
“She loves the show. She has a lot of movies and TV shows that she’s producing, so our production dates didn’t match up. She definitely wanted to do it, but she has deals that take priority, and [sua participação em “One Piece”] it just became complicated,” said the producer.
Even without Lee Curtis in the second season, Clements assured that they found “a wonderful person” to play the character of Dr. Kureha.
The Netflix series, created in partnership with Shueisha and produced with Tomorrow Studios, is a live-action adaptation of the manga series by Eiichiro Oda . The manga saga has become the best-selling in Japanese history and the anime has already lasted 20 seasons.
“One Piece” follows the young Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), who decides to leave his small village to find the legendary treasure that would allow him to become the Pirate King. To do so, he needs to gather his crew and get a ship to search every inch of the ocean.
