European Union’s foreign policy leader Kaya Calas today expressed hope for an agreement at the European Ministers of Defense to remove economic sanctions against Syria, as diplomats point out that Brussels are ready to take such a step. “Regarding Syria, I hope we will agree to remove financial sanctions today,” Callas told reporters before the Summit, noting that Europe will either give Syria the opportunity to stabilize, or the country will endanger a situation as in Afghanistan.
