One step before the Barnier government collapses due to the budget – The “flirt” with Le Pen failed

A new political crisis has erupted in France with Michel Barnier’s government now one step away from collapse over the budget vote as talks with Le Pen’s party failed. The choice a little earlier in the afternoon for Barnier to invoke article 49.3 of the Constitution, bypassing the National Assembly for the part of the budget concerning social security, led, as expected from this move of the government, to the motion of no confidence. The head of the left-wing LFI parliamentary group, Mathilde Pano, has announced that she has tabled a no-confidence motion against the government. The far-right National Alarm (RN) has announced that it will vote in favor of a motion of censure following Barnier’s move.
