An online conference on “Open Banking Technologies: FinTech – Open Banking Protocols” was organized today by the Bank of Greece in collaboration with the Open Technologies Organization (EELLAK).
Opening the event, the coordinator Mr. Giannis Dionatos, publisher of Startupper.gr noted: “With this event, the Bank of Greece and the Open Technologies Organization (EELLAK) broadcast a strong position for the activation of a multi-participant” ecosystem “and” ecosystem “. The Bank of Greece utilizes the innovative possibilities of open data, as already in 2018 it has put into operation the Open Data Portal. Through the Portal, statistical data sets certified by the Open Data Institute are available to researchers and the general public, in a format that allows them to be read and processed directly by computers. The collection, processing and publication of the Bank’s Open Data is carried out based on international standards for open data.
THE Governor of the Bank of Greece Mr. Giannis Stournarasat the beginning of the day stressed: “The operation of the Portal makes the BoG a pioneer among the national central banks in the field of open data. Continuing in this direction, the BoG intends to hold a Datathon competition in the fall of 2022, in search of innovative solutions using open data “.
Then, the Minister of State and Digital Government Mr. Kyriakos Pierrakakis “I welcome today’s event and consider it a very important initiative, primarily on a symbolic level, to highlight the great value that open data can have for the country and the economy. Through the Bank’s open data portal,” she said. “Greece and through those of the Greek State we can investigate which strategy will help us to” generate “the maximum possible value from the data we have as a country, as a state.”
