Online stores should move BRL 16 billion with Christmas purchases

Until this Friday (24), e-commerce should earn R$ 16.6 billion with Christmas sales, an increase of 18% compared to last year. The expectation is from the Brazilian Association of Electronic Commerce (Abcomm), an entity that brings together representatives of virtual stores and service providers.

Entrepreneurs project 37.5 million orders and an average ticket of R$445, with the attraction of consumers who try to escape the agglomerations in shopping malls and physical stores, and also those who opt for the ease of purchase through clicks.

The most sought after gifts should come from the computer, cell phone, electronics, toys, fashion and accessories sectors. “Telephony always emerges. Also computer products. The pandemic made this sector stand out again.

Many people are adapting to the new home office format and want a little better IT equipment”, highlighted the vice president of Abcomm, Rodrigo Bandeira Santos.

The survey of year-end purchases made by the entity takes into account the period from November 15th to December 24th. However, Bandeira points out that consumers did not use Black Friday to anticipate gifts.

The date was affected by the global crisis of inputs, the devaluation of the real against the dollar and the social and economic scenario in the country.

Due to the lead time, online shopping for Christmas tends to be made in the first half of December, but the Abcomm vice president points out that many stores offer options for final orders.

“There are brands offering delivery guarantees in a few hours”, he commented.

To ensure safe purchases, Santos advises that the internet itself is the main tool to avoid scams. “Research on a particular store, brand and product or even on use and applicability.

People share their impressions a lot, complaints on social networks and websites, which are an excellent source of consultation so that a problem can be seen before it actually happens”, he warned.

  • Search for information on the purchase site, check for complaints on social networks, consultation sites and references with friends or family;
  • Reliable sites disclose the physical address and any phone or email for customer service;
  • The recommendation is that the consumer prefers to always type the address in the browser instead of clicking on links;
  • Before providing personal information to make the purchase, make sure that the website entered matches that of the searched store;
  • Save all purchase data, such as value, payment method and order number. If possible, capture the confirmation screen and keep the emails exchanged with the supplier;
  • The electronic or printed invoice must be delivered to the consumer;
  • Consumers who regretted the purchase, whatever the reason, can return the product within seven days and must receive the entire amount paid, including shipping costs.
