“The president wanted to do this much earlier, but we had not found the set of solutions for this to be done,” he said in an interview with CNN New Day .
With less than three months to go before the first round of the elections, the project is moving at an accelerated pace in the Chamber of Deputies, after having passed the Senate with amendments at the end of last month.
This Tuesday (5) morning, the president of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), receives leaders of the opposition and of the allied base to discuss the proposal – which has also been called the new PEC of Fuels, PEC Kamikaze or PEC das Bondades, for example.
The text provides for the recognition of the state of emergency in 2022 in the country – which allows, in practice, the flexibility of the spending ceiling – and provides for up to R$ 41.25 billion from public accounts for an aid package.
“We are working to increase Auxílio Brasil from R$400 to R$600, to double the Vale Gás, which is bimonthly and will become monthly, we are giving R$100 vouchers to 650,000 registered truck drivers”, exemplified the leader. from the government.
In the Chamber, the project was attached by the rapporteur Danilo Forte (União-CE) to the PEC on Biofuels to speed up the process, without the need for a vote in parliamentary committees as well.
“The Ethanol PEC Special Commission completes the 10 discussion sessions today. We will be able to vote in plenary on the sum of the two texts, which have already been voted on by the Senate”, said Ricardo Barros.
The government leader’s intention is to vote on the PEC without changes, to avoid the need for the bill to return once again to the Senate. “We have spoken with everyone to decide on the vote. The government’s idea and objective is to vote on the text as it came from the Senate, without changes,” he said.
However rapporteur Danilo Forte told the CNN which intends to make at least three changes to the text: the exclusion of the state of emergency, inclusion of benefits to app drivers and a policy to encourage biodiesel.
Questioned about the timing of the Social Benefits PEC with less than three months to go before the elections – and since the impacts of inflation above 10% have already been felt by the population for months – deputy Ricardo Barros said that “several other possibilities” were tried, but a solution has only been found now.
“After the capitalization of Eletrobras and the confirmation of additional dividends from Petrobras, we now have the funds already collected. There is no impact on public accounts. The money is already in the till,” he declared.
“Now that we have found the resource and the fiscal space, the decision has been made and we are now managing to deliver the benefits. The president wanted to have done this long before, but we had not found the set of solutions so that this could be done,” he concluded.
