The National Electric System Operator (ONS) began to forecast a smaller drop in the national energy load in February, at the same time that it sharply reduced its estimate for the rains that should reach the reservoirs of hydroelectric plants in the South, according to a bulletin published this Friday. -Friday (3).
For cargo, the agency now estimates a decrease of 0.2% compared to February 2022, compared to a 1.5% drop predicted last week.
As for the rains in the South, the expectation is that they reach 67% of the historical average in the month, well below the 142% predicted in the previous week.
The agency made adjustments to the estimates for the volume of rain that should reach the hydroelectric plants in the Southeast/Center-West (105% of the historical average, compared to 109% estimated in the previous week) and the North (124%, compared to 129%). In the North, the forecast was stable at 100% of the historical average.
The ONS also predicted that the lakes of the Southeast/Center-West plants should reach the end of February with 76.2% of capacity, against 75% previously projected.
