According to the National Electrical System Operator (ONS), the fifth attack on an area of a power transmission line was recorded this Monday (16), with the fourth being knocked down. The case took place in the state of Rondônia, between the municipalities of Pimenta Bueno and Vilhena.
The occurrence was at 6:43 pm on Saturday (14). The report indicates that the causes are still being identified, but there are reports that structural elements – such as steel cables and screws – would have been removed from the equipment that fell.
The ONS says that, after the fall of the tower, there was an automatic disconnection of the transmission line. Despite this, there was no significant effect on the supply of electricity to the National Interconnected System (SIN). There is still no forecast for the return of operation of the affected section.
Other cases
On Friday (13), a fourth electricity transmission tower was vandalized in the city of Rio das Pedras, in the interior of São Paulo in the region of Piracicaba.
According to Aneel, the tower belongs to the transmitter Taesa and the authorities were contacted in the face of “clear evidence” of an attempt to overthrow a tower of the transmission line that connects the cities of Assis and Sumaré, both in the interior of São Paulo.
The report made to the authorities mentions the removal of some support elements from one of the power towers at the site.
Aneel informs that the occurrence was detected on Thursday, the 12th, at 2:27 pm. Vandalism has already been reported to the Ministry of Mines and Energy and security authorities.
Taesa works on equipment repair. According to Aneel, “there was no significant damage to the transmission facilities and there was no interruption in the power transmission supply”.
On the night of Sunday (8) to Monday (9), three electricity transmission towers were knocked down in Paraná and Rondônia and, according to Aneel, with evidence of “sabotage” and “vandalism”. The cases took place hours after the criminal action that invaded the headquarters of the Three Powers in Brasília.
