The rains in hydroelectric reservoirs in the South region should be more intense in July than previously expected, according to projections by the National Electric System Operator (ONS) released this Friday (8).
For this month, the agency started to expect rains equivalent to 114% of the historical average, compared to 88% predicted the previous week.
As for the Southeast/Midwest subsystem, which concentrates the country’s main hydroelectric reservoirs, the ONS promoted a downward revision in its projections.
Rainfall in the subsystem should reach 67% of the historical average in the month (against 69% forecast in the previous week), while the capacity of the reservoirs should reach 61.8% (compared to 62.1%).
The ONS slightly revised its rainfall estimates in the North (from 87% to 85%) and Northeast (from 74% to 75%).
With regard to the national electric energy load, the projection increased from 1.3% to 1.2% in July.
