Cooperation with the OPEC + team remains important for Russia, said today the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country Sergey Lavrov, from Saudi Arabia.
According to Reuters, speaking during the last part of his visit to the Middle East, Lavrov said in a press conference that “the principles of our cooperation on this basis (of OPEC +) remain important.”
According to another publication of the agency, which cites sources from the enlarged alliance of oil-producing countries (OPEC +), at today’s meeting of technical levels of the Organization did not discuss the possibility of suspending Russia’s participation in their ranks.
It is recalled that yesterday a publication of the Wall Street Journal quoted citing representatives of OPEC, that some of its members are considering this idea, as Western sanctions have limited Moscow’s production capacity.
According to Reuters, six OPEC + representatives said the issue had not been discussed by the Agency.
It is noted that the ministers of the OPEC + countries meet tomorrow, Thursday, to determine the oil production policy of the Organization.
After Lavrov’s statements and the position of OPEC + sources became known, oil prices intensified their gains to highs of the day, rising by more than 2%.
Brent crude for August delivery traded at $ 118.17 a barrel, up 2.22% or $ 2.57.
Correspondingly, the US WTI July sees its price rise above 2.1% or $ 2.44 and trades at $ 117.11 a barrel.
