Opel unveils 6th generation Astra: new platform, hybrid and stylish body

Today, July 13, Opel officially unveiled the sixth generation Astra hatchback – the car received a completely new body, created on the basis of the company’s fresh design trends. Actually, the new Mokka, Crossland and Grandland were created in a similar design – a branded Vizor element appeared with a single darkened panel on which a headlight block with a recognizable pattern is installed, as well as a stylish radiator grille in the spirit of Opel. It should be said that already in the basic configuration, the car boasts LED optics, while the top version has Intelli-Lux matrix headlights with 168 LEDs.

The manufacturer also noted that the sixth generation of Astra moved to the EMP2 platform, which is why the novelty is very deservedly compared with the third generation of Peugeot 308. Also, in the engine compartment, a potential buyer can find, depending on the purchased configuration, a 1.2-liter petrol turbocharged engine for 110 or 130 horsepower, or the 1.5 BlueHDi diesel unit for the same 130 horses. It is worth saying that in the basic version there is a manual transmission, while the 130-horsepower engine is equipped with either an “automatic” or mechanics to choose from.

Moreover, for the first time, the Astra line has received a hybrid power plant – fans of modern technology are offered two versions of 180 or 225 horsepower. The interior of the sixth generation hatback will delight with a single Pure Panel panel with two 10-inch displays (one is the dashboard, the second is part of the multimedia system). Additionally, the buyer will be able to purchase the function of adaptive cruise control, head-up display, a system of all-round visibility and recognition of road signs.

Unfortunately, the manufacturer is not yet ready to announce prices for the new generation Opel Astra – this information is likely to appear in the foreseeable future.
