Huawei is now in full swing preparing for the full release of its mobile operating system – HarmonyOS, which should replace Android on the company’s smartphones, and, possibly, from other manufacturers.
According to Huawei representatives, the HarmonyOS system is completely open. Third-party vendors will be able to use a completely open source system. At least three manufacturers are expected to migrate from Android to HarmonyOS.
Now more details have become known about this particular aspect of the system – open source. According to reports from Chinese sources, the open source size of HarmonyOS is currently around 8GB.
For comparison – the volume of open source AOSP (Android Open Source Project) has already exceeded 60 GB, which is a lot by modern standards. In addition, it is emphasized that HarmonyOS is best suited for devices with a small amount of internal memory – 32 GB.
The release of the final version of HarmonyOS 2.0 is scheduled for June 2, 202, along with the debut of the Huawei Watch 3 smartwatch and the MatePad Pro 2 tablet.
