Open House Rome 2021, to discover the most secret city

Come back next October 2nd and 3rd, after last year’s forced stop, Open House Roma, the event that literally opens the doors of private homes, historic buildings and contemporary architecture of the city: specifically, there are more than 200 places that can be visited for free (but with compulsory reservation and upon presentation of the green pass, which is not however required for private outdoor visits), from historical architectures such as the House of Arms of Luigi Moretti at the Foro Italico, to the very modern ones, such as the BNL headquarters in Tiburtina, from private homes, such as the House of Dust by Antonino Cardillo, al Troisi cinema recently restored.

And then again the visits to the neighborhoods (from the villas of the Parioli to the street art of the Quadraro, from the Vittoria district to San Lorenzo), the photographic exhibitions such as the one that, at the Gimema foundation, will show the city under the microscope, almost as if it were a real own living organism. And this is precisely the idea behind Open House, as underlined by Davide Paterna, director of OHR “The city is an organic system, a living body, fed by a multiplicity of competing actions, which expands and retracts, adapting and evolving. This edition of Open House Rome is dedicated to reconquest of urban spaces, of broken relationships, of dormant desires. In discovering the architecture of the Eternal City, the invitation is to marvel again, to participate again in a reality that has yet to be revealed “

To regain possession of the city, therefore, to marvel at what you see every day, but which this weekend we are invited to see with new eyes or, simply, from a new perspective, so that the city will truly become everyone’s heritage, as the program manager Laura Calderoni: “The commitment that we make every year with Open House Roma is to reiterate what the city is first of all a collective space, of shared knowledge, and we do it not only by celebrating its historical heritage, but by allowing the exploration of the city in the making, contemporary. We try to build an ever greater urban awareness, stimulating the direct experience of architecture and encouraging citizens to claim a central role in its design, development and care “.
