Open to implementation of proposals coming from left-wing parties and environmentalists, Macron said

Open to the implementation of proposals coming from the parties of the left and the environmentalists, said Emanuel Macron speaking tonight on the French television station TF1.

“Ecological planning is compatible with my own political agenda,” Macron said, noting that many of the environmentalists’ proposals, especially those on air and water quality, are extremely interesting and must be implemented.

As for the pension, he appeared again ready to reconsider his views and to “enrich” them with proposals coming from both the left-wing parties and the environmentalists. He emphasized the need to focus on growth, and said that it was even more important now with the crisis over cash and for pensions.

The French president also referred to the need to reform the Schengen agreement, saying it should not be abolished as the far right proposes but should be reformed by giving the means to EU member states on Europe’s borders to better protect them.

Macron also stressed that asylum procedures should be speeded up, stressing that agreements should be reached so that asylum seekers can return to their countries of origin. Asked who he would work with to rule if he won the presidential election, Macron said he was open to working with people who have “common ideas” and want to “get involved”.

The presidential candidate then referred to his desire to reform Education and Health, referring to “the two main reforms of the coming years”.

On security issues, Macron said that during his tenure, thefts and robberies had decreased, but that violence, especially domestic violence, had increased. He promised police reinforcements and more patrols. Finally, referring to the financial issues, Macron stated that there will be tax cuts, but not an increase in the public debt. Asked how this could happen, he replied that GDP was growing.
