OpenAI responded to Elon Musk's lawsuit

OpenAI Company gave an official comment regarding the claim of billionaire Elon Musk. Here they refuted the statements of the owner of X (formerly Twitter) and accused him of unethical practices.

Let us remind you that Elon Musk filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and the company’s top management. He accused the company of breaching its articles of association and fiduciary duties.

In his opinion, OpenAI has moved away from its mission by becoming a division of Microsoft Corporation. He also reproached the company for its decision to leave the ChatGPT-4 source code closed.

OpenAI's response indicated that all parties to the agreement understood the need to create a commercial structure:

“When we discussed this issue, Elon wanted us to merge with his company Tesla. He also sought complete control. But he left OpenAI, saying that Google/DeepMind must have a worthy competitor and that he would create one himself. He promised that he would support us if we found our way.”

When the billionaire received a refusal, he suspended financing of the project, the publication says. The resulting deficit was covered by entrepreneur Reed Hoffman, which made it possible to cover operating expenses and pay salaries, OpenAI added.

“Elon soon decided to leave OpenAI, stating that the likelihood of our venture being successful was zero,” the release said.

At the same time, OpenAI noted that Elon Musk was fully aware of the company’s commercial development model. He agreed that “it’s completely okay not to share science.”

At the same time, the company posted several emails from Elon Musk under its response, which generally confirm what was written.
