But it’s definitely worth it – the function noticeably improves the sharpness in the frame, even in fairly old videos.
The innovation works quite simply – the user launches a video on YouTube or in any social network, after which a floating button appears on top of this video with a notification that the video can be improved through the Lucid Mode function. If the user clicks on this button, the technology will improve the image quality in real time by sharpening the objects in the frame. Browser developers are confident that this will significantly affect the user’s experience when viewing content on the network, although it is strange that the technology cannot be activated permanently – it will not be very convenient to activate Lucid Mode every time you watch videos in the feed.
Unfortunately, the company’s specialists do not disclose information about how exactly the process of improving videos takes place. For example, if the system sharpens objects in the frame due to technologies built into the browser, then the user may not worry about depending on the Internet connection when viewing content. On the other hand, if processing takes place through technologies located on Opera servers, then this can significantly increase traffic consumption. On the other hand, the function is optional, and if the end result is not suitable for the user, then he can cancel Lucid Mode and watch the video in original quality.
