Two warehouses used for the manufacture, storage and distribution of counterfeit washing powder were dismantled this Tuesday (29) by the Civil Police of Minas Gerais (PCMG). The warehouses were located by agents in the cities of Divinópolis and Carmo do Cajuru, in the Central-West region of the state.
The first approach took place after an anonymous complaint that irregular production was taking place in a warehouse in the Nossa Senhora da Conceição neighborhood, in Divinópolis. There, agents found several products with OMO brand labels, ready for distribution. Part of the cargo was already in the process of being loaded onto a truck.
In the city of Carmo do Cajuru, continuing with the investigations, the team located another warehouse in the Industrial neighborhood, used for the manufacture of washing powder. At the scene, equipment, machinery and inputs intended for the production of the material were seized, which turned out to be of inferior quality and was packaged in widely known brand packaging.
During the operation, police seized approximately 60 tons of counterfeit washing powder. A man who had rented the two warehouses was arrested red-handed. An employee and a driver who were at the scene were also taken away.
The three were taken to the police station to provide clarification. The person responsible for the warehouse was arrested and taken to the Prison System.
“At the end of the investigation, they may be held responsible for the crimes provided for in art. 273 of the Brazilian Penal Code and art. 7 of the Law on Crimes against the Tax Order and Consumer Relations, which deal with counterfeiting, adulteration and commercialization of products intended for consumption”, informed delegate Vivalde Levilesse, responsible for the action.
The operation had the support of three State Revenue agents, who carried out the tax procedures and the seizure of all irregular material. Investigations continue to identify others involved and determine the final destination of the counterfeit products.
