Operation Against theft disassembles higher RJ cell phone gang

The Rio de Janeiro Civil Police launched on Saturday (3) Operation Tracking, a permanent offensive against theft, theft, receiving and fraud involving cell phones throughout the state.

In the first phase of the operation, agents of the Crime Repression of Crimes against Intangible Property (DRCPIM) disarticulated the largest gang of the state’s subtracted cell phones, with concentrated acting in the Uruguaiana region, in the center of Rio. Watch the video:

Sixteen group members were arrested, among them four leaders who commanded from receiving and disassembling devices to resale logistics in the parallel market. Part of the criminals also promoted online courses to unlock cell phones, expanding the illegal acting network.

According to investigations, the gang kept a sophisticated and structured scheme, with an office equipped with state -of -the -art software and tools to unlock the devices.

The group operated in “duty” 24 hours a day, with a strong presence in commercial areas and in large events – such as the Lady Gaga singer showwhere part of the gang was waiting for accomplices that would act among the public.

In addition to illegal trade, criminals are also investigated by bank fraud. According to police, stolen cell phones were accessed for illicit financial movements in the victims’ applications. Watch video:

During the operation, about 200 cell phones, six notebooks, card machines and electronic parts were seized. All material will be submitted to technical expertise to deepen investigations into cyber and financial crimes.

Also according to the police, the gang exercised territorial control in Uruguaiana, imposing rules and intimidating even other illegal sellers of cell phones.
