Operation aims to divert R$1.7 billion in SUS funds

More than 150 federal police officers, 13 employees from the Federal Revenue Service and 10 from the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU) took to the streets this Tuesday morning (30) in a major operation as part of the investigation investigating crimes against the public administration, against the national financial system and money laundering totaling RS 1.7 billion.

There are 49 search and seizure warrants at 33 addresses with 42 targets. In Belém (PA), there are 33 warrants; five in Benevides (PA), three in Parauapebas (PA), one in Ananindeua (PA), five in Santa Maria do Pará (PA) and one in São Miguel do Guamá (PA), in addition to one in Barueri (SP).

The investigations identified signs of bidding crimes, involving resources from the Unified Health System (SUS), transfer of undue amounts to public servants from several city halls in the state of Pará, money laundering, with the use of shell companies and orange companies, in addition to possible practice of currency evasion through offshore, located in a tax haven.

According to the PF, the crimes would have been committed by individuals, who used legal entities linked to the urban sanitation business sector operating in Pará and other units of the federation.

The CGU points out that the main company involved in the investigation has been operating in Pará, providing sanitary and road engineering services to public entities for decades, being one of the largest creditors of public entities in the state, having found atypical movements in the order of R$ 1.7 billion in the period from 2017 to 2022.

In the decision that authorized the operation, the 4th Federal Criminal Court of Pará also authorized the seizure of the assets of those under investigation with a maximum value of RS 1.7 billion, to return the funds from the treasury.

After analyzing all the material collected in the search measures, the case will be further investigated by the investigators, with the aim of clarifying the facts of criminal relevance and holding each suspect individually responsible.
