Operation arrests drug traffickers who tortured “unfaithful” users in RS

A criminal group that filmed torture of drug users was arrested, this Tuesday (15), in a Civil Police operation in Rio Grande do Sul. 21 court warrants were executed, including arrests and searches. The investigation aims to dismantle the criminal organization involved in drug trafficking and the torture of users.

In a joint action, the Civil Police of Rio Grande do Sul dismantled a dangerous gang involved in drug trafficking and torture against users. The operation, called “Fim da Tropa”, took place in Arroio do Sal, a municipality on the north coast of Rio Grande do Sul.

The operation had the support of the Police Stations of Terra de Areia, Torres, Três Cachoeiras, the Police Station for the Repression of Organized Criminal Actions (Draco) of Xangri-lá and the 18th Police Station of Porto Alegre.

The criminals, in addition to trafficking drugs, subjected users to torture sessions, which were filmed and sent to the organization’s leader. The objective was to intimidate and control consumers who sought other points of sale. During the operation, the gang leader was arrested red-handed with drugs, weapons and ammunition.

Wide operation and results

In total, 21 court orders were served, including 12 preventive arrest warrants, 7 search and seizure warrants and 2 orders to remove banking secrecy from the leaders of the criminal scheme. To date, eight people have been preventively arrested, and another three have been arrested for drug trafficking and association with drug trafficking.

During the searches, the police seized portions of marijuana, crack and cocaine, a precision scale and a significant amount of money. Investigations indicate that the gang operated in several cities in the region.
