Operation arrests suspects of forging documents to obtain travel visas

Three suspected members of a group specializing in the falsification of documents to obtain a visa to travel abroad were arrested, this Wednesday (24), by the Civil Police of the Federal District.

Another seven people were detained because they had false proof of income when they were being treated at a consulate in the capital.

The agents also seized printers and cell phones in the homes of the investigated in Minas Gerais.

According to the police, in addition to documents, the suspects offered transportation, accommodation and guidance on how to proceed at the time of the interviews to obtain authorization to enter another country.

For the service, according to the investigation, the group charged an average of R$ 19,000. But this value could be even higher, in case of success.

“The person who got the visa had to continue paying installments, under threat from relatives who were staying in Brazil”, detailed the Civil Police.

The police had been following the trio’s movements since July, when a man was arrested with a false document here in Brasília. At the time, some embassies approached the police to report their suspicion of an organized movement, due to the increase in the number of false documents received.

In one of the cases, for example, a 75-year-old rural worker, with no proven official income, obtained forged documents indicating that he owned a farm and had a monthly income of R$155,000.
