Operation dismantles criminal organization that manufactured and sold rivets

An operation carried out this Tuesday (10) by the Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime of the Public Ministry of Goiás (Gaeco/MPGO) served 88 warrants against suspected manufacture and sell rivet in the states of Goiás, Tocantins, Bahia and São Paulo.

THE rivet is a synthetic drug used by professional drivers to inhibit sleep and allow them to work long hours.

In addition to the production and sale of drugs, those under investigation operated a sophisticated money laundering scheme that moved millions of dollars in amounts.

The investigations pointed to a wide network of companies and bank accounts used by the leaders of the criminal organization to hide and disguise the profits obtained from the sale of rivets.

The companies were also used to acquire essential inputs for the manufacture of drugs, such as chemicals, machinery and packaging. Illicit funds were also laundered through the purchase of vehicles, properties, farms and crypto assets, according to prosecutors.

The operation, carried out with the support of the Federal Highway Police (PRF), served warrants in 14 municipalities:

  • Goiás: Goiânia, Goianira, Trindade, Anápolis, Ceres, Mara Rosa, Campinorte, Uruaçu and Porangatu.
  • Tocantins: Talisman.
  • Bahia: Luís Eduardo Magalhães.
  • São Paulo: Salto.

In total, 268 federal highway police officers, 96 members of the MPGO — including 26 prosecutors — and sniffer dogs trained to locate narcotics participated in the action.
