Operation fulfills 163 search and seizure warrants against sexual exploitation

The ninth phase of the operation Luz na Infância, this Thursday (30), fulfills 163 search and seizure warrants against suspects of participating in a network of sexual abuse and exploitation practiced on the internet against children and adolescents.

In an interview with CNN , the director of integrated operations at the Ministry of Justice, Fernando Oliveira, explained that the warrants are carried out in Brazil and in six other countries. “We have the support of the United States, Argentina, Ecuador, Paraguay, Costa Rica and Panama. About 800 police officers in Brazil and abroad participate in the operation,” said Oliveira.

“The US supports the operation through the Department of Homeland Security, tracking the virtual addresses of these criminals, who operate mainly in the dark web”, explains Oliveira.

The Luz na Infância operation began in 2017 and, according to Fernando Oliveira, “was intensified as of 2019, triggering two operations per year”. In addition, the director pointed out that the Ministry of Justice has six permanent operations to combat crimes against the vulnerable.
