The Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime of the Public Prosecution Service of Rio Grande do Sul (Gaeco/MPRS), on Tuesday (19), an operation in Caxias do Sul to investigate the involvement of the Player Enio, from youth, and other people in a results manipulation scheme to benefit sports bets.
The action complied with a request from the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), which issued an alert about distortions in bets related to the Serie A of the 2025 Brazilian Championship.
Search and seizure warrants were served at the athlete’s residence and also at Alfredo Jaconi Stadium, where the player’s personal cabinet was inspected.
The purpose of the operation is to gather evidence that the investigated would have received an advantage – patrimonial or non -equity – to purposely provoke the application of yellow cards in at least two matches. The suspicion is that people close to the athlete bet on previously knowing these infractions.
THE CNN contacted the advisors of Youth and Player Enio, but obtained no response until the publication of this article.
Crimes calculated are criminal organization, estelionate and violation of article 198 of the new general sport law, which criminalizes the request or acceptance of advantage to change or falsify the result of a sports competition. The penalty is two to six years in prison, as well as a fine.
According to the Public Prosecution Service, the investigations indicate that the amounts bet exceeded the volume considered normal, which reinforced the suspicion of handling.
The prosecutors responsible for the case are Rodolfo Grezzana, who operates in Caxias do Sul, and Manoel Figueiredo Antunes, coordinator of the 5th Regional Center of Gaeco – Serra. Also participating in the operation were the state coordinator of Gaeco, prosecutor André Dal Molin, and prosecutor Cristina Schmitt, with the support of the Military Brigade.
The investigation is still in progress to identify others involved in the scheme.
