Operation Safe School: Suspect is arrested and 270 Twitter accounts have requested deletions

The Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino, said that, this Saturday (8), a suspect was arrested and 270 Twitter accounts had their deletions requested, when taking stock of Operation Safe School. The information was given through his Twitter profile.

The operation was put into practice by the ministry with the states on Thursday (6) after a man attacked a day care center in Blumenau, Santa Catarina, which left four children dead. The task force seeks to promote actions to combat threats and violence in educational institutions.

According to Dino, the 270 accounts that had the deletions requested by the operation “posted hashtags related to attacks against schools”. The contents and authors are investigated, he added.

The minister also wrote that there was a request for the TikTok platform to remove two accounts that were viralizing content that incited fear in families.

He also said that search warrants were carried out with the seizure of seven weapons and the arrest of a suspect. There are no further details about the cases so far. This Friday (7), the Ministry of Justice informed that, “due to the nature of the crimes, which tend to be mimicked, we will not divulge the details of the operation”.

Complaints can be made anonymously and the information will be kept confidential, according to the initiative. The complainant does not need to identify himself.
