On Thursday (5), agents from the Capital Homicide Division, with the support of the Special Resources Coordination (Core) and the Federal Police (PF) are carrying out a task force to serve six arrest warrants against those involved in the death of federal police officer Sérgio Luiz Medeiros. The action is taking place in Morro São João, in the northern zone of Rio de Janeiro.
The crime took place on August 14 of this year, when federal police officer Sérgio Luiz Medeiros was at home in the Todos os Santos neighborhood. According to reports, two criminals got out of a car and held the agent hostage, announcing the robbery, then shot him and fled. The agent was killed in front of his family.
Investigations revealed that a criminal organization led by brothers Jonathan and Douglas Martins Costa, known as Paizão and Da Nike, operates in Morro São João.
The police are also looking for Fábio da Silva Seabra, Igor da Silva Souza, Jean Jefferson Damião dos Santos, Pablo dos Santos Mendonça, and a suspect known as Pelé, who are believed to be members of the same gang.
During the investigations, the police discovered that the group was involved in drug trafficking and vehicle thefts in the north zone and was responsible for Sérgio’s robbery.
The operation is ongoing and the number of arrests and seizures has not yet been released.
