In the early hours of this Thursday (31), teams from the Integrated Force to Combat Organized Crime (FICCO) in Bahia launched Operation Rota Segura in the Complexo do Nordeste de Amaralina, in Salvador. The target is a criminal faction involved in a series of crimes that include drug trafficking, illegal arms trade, attacks on police vehicles and corruption of minors.
Investigations indicate that the gang operates mainly in the neighborhoods of Santa Cruz, Vale das Pedrinhas and Chapada do Rio Vermelho, in Salvador.
In addition to direct attacks against security forces, the faction allegedly promoted formations of “bonds” – armed groups of criminals who circulate to carry out coordinated actions –, money laundering and robberies in the region.
This morning’s operation has the support of the Military and Civil Police of Bahia, which, together with the Federal Police, have served court warrants seeking to capture leaders and members of the criminal group.
The action takes place in partnership with the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) of Bahia and the Federal Police.
