Operators were asked to remove cell towers from schools and universities. This will degrade the connection.

Russian mobile operators were urged to dismantle their equipment from the territory of Russian educational institutions – this was reported by the information publication Izvestia, citing representatives of the cellular network market. The reason why the operators were asked to remove their equipment from the territory of schools, colleges and universities is directly related to the new rules developed by Rospotrebnadzor – they prohibit the installation of communication base stations in schools. Moreover, in a number of regions, this rule is planned to be extended to other types of educational institutions.

For example, they want to expand the list of institutions on whose territory it is forbidden to install communication base stations in St. Petersburg, Primorye, as well as in the Chelyabinsk and Irkutsk regions. At the same time, experts and industry representatives consider these bans unreasonable, and employees of the Ministry of Digital Development (Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media) believe that the restriction on the installation of base stations must first be scientifically substantiated. In addition, which was to be expected, the mobile operators themselves believe that the dismantling of the relevant equipment at the above facilities will lead to a deterioration in signal quality for other users who do not attend schools or universities.

“The dismantling of the relevant equipment on the territory of the Far Eastern Federal University will lead to the degradation of services on its territory,” said Daria Kolesnikova, a representative of Tele2.

Probably, in the near future, base stations will either be dismantled due to new standards, or mobile operators will achieve preliminary measurements, based on which it will be possible to determine the level of radiation harmful to students in educational institutions.
