Pierrot Chipolon, a member of the Board of the European Central Bank (ECB), said that Bitcoin does not have a model of earnings, and the attractiveness of the first cryptocurrency is based exclusively on speculative interest.
Piero Cipollone (PIPOLLONE) in an interview with Reuters noted that the regulator will revise relations with any of the central banks that will decide to add bitcoin to its reserves, since the first cryptocurrency cannot be considered a backup asset.
He rejected the common comparison of bitcoin with gold, despite the general characteristics like the deficiency of a sentence and perception of it in the masses as a means of savings. The central banks are invested in gold because precious metal has internal, commercial and industrial value. Bitcoin has nothing of this, the official summed up.
Earlier, Pierrot Cipollo said that the regulator would counteract any attempts by US President Donald Trump to extend the influence of dollar stabilcoins on the EU territory.
