The presentation of the opinion of the Fuels PEC was postponed for the third time and should be presented this Wednesday (29). The information came from interlocutors of the project’s rapporteur, Senator Fernando Bezerra Coelho (MDB-PE).
According to interlocutors, the senator was meeting with the president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG) and the economic team to evaluate and try to reduce the impacts that the PEC could have on public accounts.
Initially, Bezerra would present his opinion to the PEC at 11 am this Tuesday (28). The announcement of the text had already been postponed the day before, as the senator’s first prediction was to release it on Monday (27).
The issue raises disagreements with governors. And, faced with the pressure to resolve or at least mitigate the effects of the high fuel prices precisely in an election year, the government and the rapporteur suggest including an increase of R$ 200 in the Brazil aid thus going from R$ 400 to R$ 600, and the creation of the so-called “truck voucher”, estimated at R$ 1,000
According to estimates made by the manager Ryo Asset, the cost of the Fuels PEC could reach R$ 58.2 billion, if the voucher for truck drivers is R$ 1,000.
