Opinion: People will never give up cryptocurrencies

The crackdown on the cryptosphere in many countries will not be able to force people to abandon bitcoin and other virtual coins. This is the opinion of Maria Abramovskaya, a teacher at the Higher School of Economics, reports IA REGNUM.

With this statement, the expert commented on the decision of the UK authorities to ban the Binance exchange from serving local traders.

Governments fear the growing influence of digital currencies. They don’t know how to put innovative instruments under their control and make investors pay taxes.

Because of their helplessness, the countries are trying to act with repressive methods, but the expected effect will not bring the tough policy anyway, the economist emphasizes.

Abramovskaya noted:

Cryptocurrencies are very popular, many are already dealing with them, any attempts to limit the possibilities of cryptocurrency exchanges will only lead it away [рынок] into the shadow sphere. People will definitely not give up such a source of income.

However, many Russian analysts, on the contrary, are extremely negative towards Bitcoin and other digital currencies.

Recently, Alexander Pushko, also representing the Higher School of Economics, said that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are pyramids. According to him, BTC will inevitably collapse as soon as people stop investing in this instrument.
