Nine states are in orange alert for heavy rain and storms this Monday (2), according to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet).
The notice of Danger It is still valid today, but can be extended. Inmet points to the possibility of storms in the three states of the southern region of the country.
The agency divides the alerts into three severity levels : Potential Hazard (yellow), Danger (orange) and Great Danger (red).
The institute warns of rainfall of up to 60 mm per hour and intense winds of up to 100 km/h. There is a risk of falling branches and trees, flooding and power cuts.
The states of Mato Grosso and Paraná must be the most affected. An Inmet map shows the orange mark that represents the area with a forecast for storms. See below.

In all, 1,650 municipalities are expected to be affected due to the rain this Monday. In addition to the orange alert, the states of São Paulo, Pará, Amazonas and Acre are under warning of “potential danger” for intense rains represented by the yellow mark on the map.
Inmet also instructs the population of these regions not to take shelter under trees or park vehicles near towers and power transmission poles.
According to Climatempo, the Paraná should have four to five cold fronts in the state this December. Polar air masses will bring irregular and heavy rain, but with few days of long thunderstorms.
