Oreo Is Celebrating Its 110th Anniversary With An Unprecedented Flavor

Oreo is planning something entirely new for its 110th anniversary. For the commemorative occasion, the company is releasing a special flavor called Chocolate Confetti Cake. With granules in abundance.

The cookies themselves are filled with the confectionery and have two layers of filling: the signature cream flavor, with sprinkles, and a chocolate cake flavored cream.

Oreo said it’s the first time he’s used sprinkles in the cookie.

Retailers will begin selling the commemorative goodies on January 31 for a limited time.

Oreo celebrates its birthday on March 6th. The popular cookie was first sold on this date in 1912 by the National Biscuit Company to a grocery store in Hoboken, New Jersey.

Since then, Oreo has regularly released special varieties to keep the product fresh, including a Lady Gaga flavor and, more recently, crunchy caramel and a chocolate-flavored creamy cookie.

Owned by Mondelez, Oreo continues to make money. The latest limited-edition flavor is part of the company’s goal of increasing sales by $1 billion next year.

In its November 2021 earnings call, Mondelez said that Oreo “continues to be a standout performer” and that its Pokémon Oreo edition was the company’s best-selling flavor in the United States.

The company also said it is raising prices for Oreos and its other brands, such as Chips Ahoy, by 6% to 7% starting this month.
