Organizers of the São Paulo LGBT+ Pride Parade receive death threats

The São Paulo LGBT+ Pride Parade Association (APOLGBT-SP) confirmed this Tuesday (14) that it received death threats and attacks against the event, which will take place this Sunday (19).

The organization accused the receipt of an email with LGBTphobic content and threats against the lives of the organizers and participants of the Parade, and reported having opened a police report against the senders, whose names were not disclosed. In addition to the complaint, the Association also alerted the Municipal Secretary of Human Rights and Citizenship and the Secretary of Justice and Citizenship of the State of São Paulo.

In a note, the Secretary of Justice and Citizenship reported that it called the Civil Police of the State of SP, which will take the necessary measures.

The 26th edition of the LGBT+ Pride Parade takes place on Avenida Paulista, after two years without in-person events, and will feature the presentation of artists such as Pabllo Vittar, Luísa Sonza, Pocah, Mc Rebecca and Liniker.

In June, LGBT+ Pride Month is celebrated globally, and the São Paulo LGBT+ Pride Parade takes place annually during this period.
