A Canadian was deported from Bali for teaching “Orgasmic” yoga as the Indonesian authorities considered that it did not respect local traditions and values.
Christopher Kyle Martin was deported from Indonesia yesterday after he promoted “Tantric Full Body Orgasm” lessons online for 20 euros.
The promotion of the courses he offered went viral on social media in the country, causing the rage of some conservative groups.
“This activity is likely to tarnish the reputation of Indonesia and Bali as tourist destinations and is disrespectful to Bali customs,” the Bali governor told a news conference yesterday, in which Martin appeared sitting next to immigration officials.
“If you want to come back here you have to respect Bali customs,” the governor told him.
The Bali Immigration Service has confirmed that Martin, who traveled to Indonesia on a tourist visa in April, was deported for failing to respect Bali culture and traditions.
According to the Service, Martin argued that yoga classes would not involve any sexual activity and would focus mainly on breathing techniques.
After the outcry, the lessons were canceled.
Bali, an island with a predominantly Hindu population, has deported dozens of foreigners for violating sacred sites or violating coronavirus restrictions.
Last year, a Syrian yogi was deported from Bali for teaching a large number of students, violating anti-pandemic restrictions.
