Apple has updated its list of obsolete and retired products. The main innovation was the appearance of the very first smartwatch Apple Watch in the list of obsolete products.
Note that the watch made it onto this Apple list for the first time. The first generation Apple Watch 38 mm and 42 mm is now officially considered obsolete.
The first Apple Watch was introduced more than six years ago, in April 2015, and the updated Apple Watch Series 1 and Apple Watch Series 2 became available in 2016. Apple continued to update the Apple Watch every year, and should go on sale in October 2021. Watch Series 7.
Apple refers to “obsolete” products that have been discontinued more than 5 and less than 7 years ago. These devices are repaired by Apple Service Centers only if spare parts are available. In a couple of years, the original Apple Watch will be retired from service and will be completely discontinued.
