The head of the Greek Orthodox Church in Jerusalem condemned the attack on an ancient church in Jerusalem Gaza Strip during the night, which is under the responsibility of the Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem.
The airstrike, which damaged part of the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Porphyry in the Gaza Strip, was “a new massacre” and “an attack on Christian heritage,” according to Atallah Hanna, Greek Orthodox archbishop of Sebastia in Jerusalem.
“We urgently ask His Holiness the Pope and the heads of churches around the world to raise their voices and not be content with prayers alone,” Hanna added in a written statement.
It is unclear how many people were killed or injured in the attack. Video from the scene overnight on Thursday (20) showed extensive damage.
