Oscar 2022: the management is all female

After the self-management of the last three years, the Oscar 2022 – which will be staged on March 27 – return to have a landlord, or rather three. To try to raise the increasingly waning ratings and to be more captivating and in step with the times, the Academy has decided, in this round, to focus on an all-female cast and, in particular, on three professionals: Wanda Sykes, Amy Schumer and Regina Hall. In fact, they will be the ones to hold the ranks of the most glittering night of cinema, with the hope that this 94th edition will tear some shreds of normality more than the one staged in 2021, completely revolutionized due to Covid.

Amy Schumer

All three presenters are well established in driving big live events: Amy Schumer hosted the MTV Movie Awards in 2015; Regina Hall the BET Awards in 2019, and Wanda Sykes the GLAAD Media Awards 2018. As interpreters, however, the three actresses are mainly linked to the genre of comedy: Sykes, actress and screenwriter, was one of the first African American authors to be awarded major awards such as the Emmy; Schumer has created over the years one of the strongest stand-up characters in America, while Hall owes her notoriety above all for having lent the face to Brenda, the best friend of the protagonist of the saga of Scary Movie.

Will Packer will produce the 2022 Oscars who, second Varietyhe had initially thought of the American actor Jon Hamm for the conduct of this edition turning, in the end, on the three intelligent and ironic actresses, capable of rejuvenating the Dolby Theater stage with a note of irreverence that certainly won’t hurt. The hope, on this round, is that Schumer, Hall and Sykes will manage to create some viral catchphrase like Ellen’s selfie at the 2014 ceremony. For the record, the last Oscar host to date was Jimmy Kimmel, witness, the year before, of the embarrassing curtain that saw the exchange of the envelope containing the name of the winner as Best Film of the year.
